Late rally fails to save Sherwood

LAHORE, March 19: A three-goal rally failed to help Sherwood to avert defeat at the hands of Master Paints (6-5 1/2) in the G, Mueen-ud-Din memorial polo on Wednesday.

Master Paints started the match in stormy fashion and took  3- 1/2  lead at the end of first chukker. Azhar Ali who scored  three goals in the match struck his first for winners, followed by  goals from Sufi M Haris and Ashfaq. In dying  minute,  Sherwood, playing with a half goal on handicap scored their first goal through Amanat who scored twice.

Master Paints further increased the lead to 4-2 1/2 in the second chukker. Azhar scored his second while Maula Bakhsh slammed in his first for Sherwood.

The third chukker was shared by both the side equally as they scored two goals apiece. That brought Master Paint out with a lead of 6-4 1/2. Azhar and Sufi Amir struck for the winners in early stagesr. Shehzad Aziz and Maula Bakhsh replied for Sherwood in dying minutes.

In the fourth chukker Amanat scored his second to bring to make the score 6-5 1/2.

Four goals by Asif Yar Tiwana and three by his brother Atif helped Shv Energy to win against Triple X 8-6 in another match.

Ahmad Ali scored the remaining one goal for the winners.
