GUJRANWALA, March 19: A bailiff of the district sessions judge on Wednesday raided Wazirabad police station and retrieved an elderly man, who was detained illegally for the last two weeks.

Judge Riazul Hassan Alvi produced him in court, and summoned the SHO and moharrar concerned on next hearing.

Reports said police picked up Abdul Ghaffar, about 75, from his house in place of his son, who was involved in a quarrel case. They detained him at the police station and allegedly tortured him during interrogation.

Meanwhile, his family moved the sessions court. The judge ordered that the victim should be checked up by a medical board and report be submitted in court on next hearing.
