Security in Balochistan tightened

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, March 19: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousaf on Wednesday directed the law enforcement agencies to tighten security in the province in view of imminent attack on Iraq by the United States.

Presiding over a meeting which reviewed the law and order situation, the chief minister said: “Life and property of the people must be protected during protest demonstrations and rallies.” He said no security lapse would be tolerated.

The meeting took decisions for providing security to the people in case of demonstrations and protest rallies against the attack.

“Protest rallies and meetings could he held only in Ayub Stadium” and the government would not allow any party or group to hold protest rallies at other places, it was decided.

Police, anti-terrorism force and Balochistan reserve police have been deployed at important places and entry points of the provincial capital. Extra forces had been assigned to protect churches and residences of foreigners, the provincial police chief said. He said patrolling of the law enforcement agencies had been increased.

The chief minister assured a delegation of Christians, led by Senator Roshan Khurshid Buracaha, that the government would take all possible steps for the protection of the minorities.
