KARACHI: Mystery of boy’s murder solved

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, March 19: Police on Wednesday solved the mystery of a minor’s murder whose body was recovered from the rooftop of Yaseen Centre on Tariq Road on Monday.

The DSP of Feroze Abad, Ali Raza, told Dawn that the victim, five-year-old Ziaullah, was throttled to death allegedly by his step-sister Sakina, aged 17, and that she might have been assisted by some other person in the murder.

The DSP opined that the girl had used a bandage to strangulate the boy. He said that the bandage was recovered from near the place of murder. Sakina has been arrested.

Police said that the victim’s father, Rehmatullah was a driver and had two wives. The murdered boy’s mother was Habiba, they said.

The victim had gone to see his step-mother, Afghan Gul, at her workplace in Yaseen Centre, they said.

According to Habiba’s statement, given earlier to the police, she and Afghan Gul had a fight two days back during which the latter had threatened to kill Ziaullah, police said.
