Disease-resistant sugar cane seed

By Our Correspondent

TOBA TEK SINGH, March 16: Growers will be supplied disease-free sugarcane seed from next season.

This was stated by District Agriculture Officer Mian Shafiq Muhammad on Saturday. He was speaking at a seminar at Gojra.

He said that the agriculture department had produced the seed through tissue culture technology.

The new seed was cultivated at the Gojra government farm on experimental basis.

He said that the new seed would increase per acre yield. The agriculture department would provide the seed to the growers on 50 per cent discount rate.

Ayub Agriculture Research Institute experts also spoke at the seminar.
