KARACHI, March 16: Chief Minister Ali Mohammed Mahar has urged the well-wishers of people as well as the administration and law-enforcement agencies to fulfil their responsibilities in resolving the problems being faced by the masses.
His remarks came at his meeting with the additional superintendents of police who called on him at the CM House here on Sunday.
Minister for Population Dr Saeeda Malik, Home Secretary S. Anwar Ahmed, and IG of Sindh, Syed Kamal Shah were also present at the meeting.
The CM said that the elected government was making all out efforts to resolve people’s problems. He said restoration of justice promptly to the people was the prime responsibility of the administration and the departments having the task of law enforcement.
Stressing that the image of police in public must be improved, he asked the police personnel to be courteous and ensure provision of justice to the people immediately.
Police should also make practical measures for public welfare so that they could get appreciation from the masses, he said.
Mr Mahar pointed out that certain police officials had demonstrated exemplary performance and gain good reputation among the people. “When such honest and efficient officials are transferred, people resort to stage protest demonstrations against the move.”
He told the meeting that people were the best judge and police officials must demonstrate their efficiency, proficiency and performance to win their confidence, trust and praise.
The IG of Sindh briefed the CM about the performance of police department.
SPECIAL PACKAGE: Chief Minister Ali Mohammed Mahar has pledged that a special package for agriculture sector of the province will be announced within two or three months.
He was talking to delegations of growers which called on him at the CM House on Sunday.
He pointed out that growers had received a reasonable price of their rice crop due to the appropriate and prompt measures taken by the government.
The delegation complained about the non-availability of gunny bags to farmers on which the CM replied that Food Department had been asked to look into the matter.
He said that the government had placed solution of growers’ problems on priority.
