SUKKUR Mar 15: Hundreds of residents of New Goth staged a rally here on Saturday against the civic authorities’ failure to pump out drainage water from the area.

The protesters also burnt tyres and raised slogans against the taluka and district Nazims.

The Naib Nazim, Sukkur district, Iqbal Dawood, rushed to the area, negotiated with the protesters and ordered the authorities to install pumps to drain out sewerage water from there.

He said that the drainage line of the area was damaged and the work on laying a new drainage line would begin in a week. The protesters dispersed after the announcement.—Correspondent
