No-trust move against Nazim rejected

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, March 15: The Larkana District Council, at an urgent session on Saturday, unanimously rejected a no-confidence motion against the Dokri Taluka Nazim, moved by the district Nazim.

District Nazim Khursheed Ahmed Junejo, through a letter to the convener of the district council, had moved the motion under sub- section-1 of section 62 of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2001 after he had received a series of complaints against the Taluka Nazim, Aijaz Ahmed Junejo.

The district Nazim had requested for calling an urgent session of the council for voting on the motion but he was not present at Saturday’s meeting.

Taking the rostrum, Muhib Pirzado and others defended the performance of the Taluka Nazim and termed the motion against him uncalled for.

The Nazim of union council, Badah-II, Athar Abbas Solangi, said that the district Nazim had adopted a democratic way by moving a motion against a Nazim of his group.

Manzoor Chandio said that the motion should have been taken first by the concerned Taluka council.

Ghulam Rasool Noonari said that contents of the motion should have been first circulated among the district council members.

The Dokri Taluka Nazim, rejecting the charges, said that he had maintained transparency in awarding contracts and tried to make the Taluka council a financially sound body.

Offering himself for another investigation, he said that acting on an application during his visit to Badah, the Sindh chief minister had ordered an investigation against him.

However, he added, an eight-member team of the Local Government Commission had visited Dokri and conducted the investigation inquiry but found his slate to be clean.

TWO INJURED: Two persons were injured when they tried to foil a robbery attempt in a medical store near the Market police station here on Saturday.

Medical store owner Imdad Shaikh and Mumtaz Jatoi were injured in the firing by three men who entered the store for robbery.

Later, one of the robbers was arrested.
