SUKKUR Mar 15: A police constable was killed and another injured as armed bandits attacked the Liaqat Domki police post near Bakhshapur, Jacobabad district on Friday night.

The bandits also took away seven weapons, including three G-3 rifles, from the police post.

The outlaws used rocket launchers and other automatic weapons in the attack killing constable Bhooral Lashari and injuring Mohammad Qasim Meenak.

While fleeing, the bandits kidnapped constable Mumtaz Meenak and took away arms, including three G-3 Rifles and three Kalashnikovs, and a sizable quantity of ammunition.

The fourth police constable on duty, Roshan Naseerani, fled from the scene.

At some distance, the outlaws freed Mumtaz after severely torturing him.

The AIG, Sukkur, Rahoo Khan Brohi, and the DIG, Sukkur, Zafarullah Khan, rushed to the area with a heavy police force but till then the outlaws had crossed the border and fled into Balochistan.

Body of Lashari was shifted to his hometown Thul where senior police officials attended his funeral.

During a meeting with the family of the deceased, the AIG announced a Rs100,000 compensation for the death of the policeman.

He assured that the family would receive salary of the deceased for next seven years and a relative of him would be recruited in the police department.
