KARACHI, March 15: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has praised the people for observing Ashura with religious harmony and the departments concerned for maintaining peace.

He expressed satisfaction with the law and order situation during Muharram at a meeting in the Governor’s House on Saturday. Heads of the departments concerned and high officials attended the meeting.

He praised the team work of the home minister, city nazim, police, Rangers and other law-enforcement agencies in this regard.

The meeting also discussed constituting a jail reform committee aimed at improving the jail manual, shifting jails to new places keeping in view of the high number of prisoners, ensuring effective monitoring of jails and achieving the objective of making the prisoners better citizens.

The meeting was attended by the home minister, the city nazim and others. — PPI
