Nine die in Bombay train blast

MUMBAI, March 13: At least nine commuters were killed and 75 more were injured on Thursday evening when a bomb exploded on a suburban train during office rush-hour at one of Mumbai’s busiest rail stations.

“Eight people have died and 60 more are injured,” a police spokesman said.

The powerful explosion occurred on a first class carriage of the commuter train at Mumbai’s Mulund suburban station, he said.

“It was a bomb,” another police official said. One eyewitness said the top of the carriage was blown off by the force of the explosion. —AFP
