KARACHI, March 13: The city government’s water and sanitation department’s executive district officer, Brig (retd) Sardar Javaid Ashraf, has urged the officials to ensure smooth supply of water during Ashura.

During a visit to different towns, including Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Bin Qasim, Liaquatabad, Malir, North Nazimabad and Jamshed Town, the EDO also asked the executive engineers to ensure that no pipeline leakages and sewerage overflows take place near Imambargahs and on routes of Muharram processions.

Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements made by the department in their concerned towns, he directed the officials to keep their offices open on Ashura for receiving complaints and attend to them on priority.

DO technical services, Salman Chandio, who accompanied the EDO, said the 33-inch dia damaged pipeline in Surjani Town was being repaired on priority so that on their next turn of water supply Surjani Town and Mianwali Colony areas get proper water supply.
