By Our Reporter
ISLAMABAD, March 13: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has constituted steering committees for carrying out evaluation and analysis for organizational re-structuring of tax administration to enhance the performance of tax officials.
An official source in the CBR said that around 14 steering committees had been formulated to conduct detailed analysis and evaluation of each functions and recommend adjustments in the organizational structure and staff disposition as deemed appropriate based on specific requirements of each function.
The decision was taken following the observation that there were several duplications in the existing work process. The committees would also carry out the exercise to identify several surplus positions in various functions of the CBR, said the official.
The committees have been formulated for direct taxes, customs, central excise, sales tax, exports, audit, legal, IMS, policy and tax reforms, tax policy education and facilitation, human resource management, administration and inquiry wing, coordinating wing and fiscal research and statistics.
They would review the CBR’s current organizational structure and potential for aligning the work process, added the official.
