KARACHI, March 10: Sindh Chief Secretary K B Rind, taking notice of the news regarding an increase in milk prices, has directed the officials concerned to take effective measures to check artificial price-hike.
He issued this directive after a delegation of the Citizens’ Welfare Council, led by its chairman Masood Zaidi, met him on Monday at his office and apprised him of citizens’ concern over proposed increase in milk prices.
The delegation told him that at various locations in the city, including milk market in Lee Market and Bhains Colony in Landhi, milk was being sold below the fixed retail price, while the citizens were being charged Rs20 to Rs22 per liter. The delegates said that mostly the milk was adulterated which caused diseases of liver and stomach.
He directed secretary food, secretary trade, district coordination officer and the Bureau of Supply and Prices to take steps for keeping the milk prices controlled by coordinating with dairy farmers’ association, retail sellers and the consumers.—PPI
