KARACHI, March 10: Sindh Ombudsman Justice (retired) Haziqul Khairi on Monday presided over a meeting to review the progress of renovation and repair work at Wazir Mansion, the birth place of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

It was noted that in pursuance of the decision taken in an earlier meeting, the first segment of Rs5.5 million fund, sanctioned for the general uplift and renovation work of the premises, had been released by the federal government.

The ombudsman asked the field staff of the archeology department to give due priority to the installation of multimedia projection kit for visitors, particularly for schoolchildren, ensure proper indexing of the valuable books and manuscripts in the library, carry out electrification of the interior and exterior of the building and conserve the flooring, doors and windows in their original shape.

The DIG (traffic) presented an outline of the zoning plans for the smooth flow of traffic at a safe distance from in front of the premises. The City Nazim issued instructions to his staff for removal of encroachments around the premises.

Later, the ombudsman inspected the premises where some on-the-spot decisions were taken in respect of various items included in the current year’s PC-I of the Wazir Mansion upkeep and maintenance project approved earlier.—PPI
