KARACHI, March 10: An election tribunal, headed by Justice Ghulam Rabbani of the Sindh High Court, put off on Monday to March 24 the hearing of a petition of a candidate of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Muhammad Hashim Siddiqui, against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s MNA, Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan.

The petitioner challenged the results of National Assembly constituency NA- 256 Karachi.

The tribunal declared on Monday unserved respondents exparte. Kazi Khalid, advocate, on behalf of MNA Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan, will file written comments on the next hearing.

The tribunal also adjourned to March 24 the hearing of a petition of MMA leader Syed Munawwar Hasan against MNA Kunwar Khalid Younus of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. The petitioner challenged the results of NA-245 Karachi.

The tribunal, after framing issues, adjourned to March 24 the hearing of a petition of MMA candidate Haleem Khan Ghauri against MQM candidate Muhammad Abbas Jaffery from PS-119 Karachi East.

M. S. Qureshi, advocate, represented Haleem Khan Ghouri, and Kazi Khalid, advocate, MPA Abbas Jaffery.

The tribunal, hearing the petition of PPP’s Abdul Karim Bhurgari against the PML (Q)’s winning candidate, Syed Ali Bux Shah alias Puppoo Shah from PS-57 Badin-III, declared unserved respondents exparte.

Rana Ikram, advocate, filed power of attorney on behalf of Syed Ali Bux Shah and he will file written comments on the next hearing on April 1.

Another election tribunal, comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim of the Sindh High Court, adjourned the hearing of MMA candidate Mustafeezuddin’s petition against MPA Abdul Rauf Siddiqui of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.—PPI
