KARACHI: More counters for vehicle registration

KARACHI, March 10: Excise minister Rauf Siddiqui has directed the officials to increase counters at the motor registration wing at the Civic Centre so as to facilitate people to submit taxes or transfer vehicles.

He paid a surprise visit to the motor registration sing, on Monday where citizens apprised him about the problems faced by them while submitting taxes.

Mr Siddiqui directed the officers to place boards inscribed with names and addresses of six on-line tax collection counters. He said banks besides National Bank of Pakistan were being communicated for opening maximum counters.

He said some transfers were being made in the department which would help eliminate bribery and identify the corrupt officers. He said these transfers would be ordered with warning that officers found in dereliction to duties and failing to achieve the revenue target could be suspended or terminated from the job.

On complaint by people present on the occasion, he ordered immediate transfer of ETO Mirza Munir and said those officers would not be tolerated who bring a bad name to the department.

About open letter, he said the people are advized to transfer their vehicles immediately which would help reduce the crime rate.

He expressed satisfaction over increase in the pace of work and reduction in complaints.—PPI
