SANGHAR: Village attacked

Published March 10, 2003

SANGHAR, March 9: A group of armed persons attacked the Shah Baig Mari village, near Tando Adam, on Jhol-Tando Adam Road on Saturday night.

The attackers tried to enter the house of one Wali Mohammad Mari, firing in the air, when some villagers reached there and retaliated the fire.

The attackers, before fleeing the scene, set the hedges around the house on fire. The fire was later extinguished by the villagers.

The police claimed that the culprits were identified and they belonged to the Khaskheli tribe.

The reason of attack was said to be kidnapping of a Khaskheli girl by one Laga Khan, a relative of Wali Mohammad Mari.

The police had arrested two people, Hakim Khaskheli and Yado Khaskheli, in connection with the incident, who denied the allegations and claimed that they were wrongly implicated in the case.

MAN KILLED: A man was killed after being hit by an overloaded truck which entered into a roadside makeshift hotel in Dang Pattan near Khipro.

The truck, loaded with wheat straw, went out of the control of its driver due to high speed and entered the hotel.
