Millennium Count fancied for feature event
LAHORE, March 8: A card of six events, featuring the Mansehra Plate, a Class I, II and III combined handicap race, highlights the 23rd Lahore Winter Meeting to be held at the Racecourse on Sunday.
In all, 83 acceptors have been declared eligible to contest the events, The first three to run over the middle distance of 1400m and the other three over the sprinting distance of 1200m.
In the feature event to be run over 1400m nine acceptors have been left-in after scratchings.
Of them four come into reckoning. They are: Millennium Count, Jet Master, Blu’s Wendy and Perfect Timing. They should fight it out in this third race of the day.
The supporting event, the Sheikhupura Plate, a class IV handicap race has 11 contenders barring last-minute withdrawals.
Of them the four-year-old filly Prime Force on form and the seven-year-old chestnut African Knight on pedigree attract attention.
Prime Force had been performing well during the on- going Lahore Winter Meetings while African Knight bred in Australia is a son of Sir Tristram, who was the champion New Zealand horse in 1990s.
It will be a fight between form and pedigree. African Knight has not won even for once in his outings in Karachi and Lahore. This will be the second race in racing order.
Chestnut Snoopy is a cut above in class vis-a-vis his 14 rivals in the fourth race.
A very good performer a couple of years ago Snoopy had been tubed after he was afflicted by roarer disease.
Since then he is no more a reliable runner. After him Mahnoor and Moment To Moment looks good on form.
The first race will be held at 1.30pm.
