RAJANPUR, March 8: Former Prime Minister Mir Balakhsher Khan Mazari on Saturday urged the government to whet its wits to control lawlessness in Mazari Goth, which has seen testing times in the last few months.
Talking to newsmen, he criticized the government for it’s failure to crack down on the gas pipelines’ attackers.
He said recently some outlaws of Balochistan damaged electricity wires through rocket launchers attack. He added people of Balochistan and Sindh also cut electricity wires, but regretted that police arrested only some Mazaris, who were already living in misery.
The former prime minister said robberies, car-snatching from government officials, shootouts and kidnapping for ransom incidents had become a routine in the locality. The local administration had retrieved police vehicles and weapons after paying ransom on numerous occasions, he said, alleging that the government was silent despite knowing all about the culprits.
Recalling the firing incident in which the Rojhan DSP was killed and four other officials and passengers injured, he asked the government to arrest the culprits and restore peace here. He added that the findings of the investigation revealed that the Bugti tribe was involved in all these activities.
Adding to the tale, Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Shaukat Mazari’s brother Sardar Liaquat Husain Mazari said members of Chakrani, a Bugti tribe’s clan, had kidnapped Rojhan SHO Farooq Ahmad and other police officials a month ago. He said the kidnappers had demanded Rs700,000 ransom for the release of the kidnapped police officials, but the government had refused to pay the amount.
Meanwhile, Rajanpur DPO Chaudhry Muhammad Munir said police had arrested some Khiazi and Mazari tribes’ prominent members for interrogation. He assured that the police would soon bring the culprits to book.
