Drugs, arms seized

KOHAT, March 8: The police seized a huge quantity of arms and drugs from a 15-member gang of smugglers and arrested three people late Friday, a police spokesman said.

Acting on a tip off, a Saddar policy party led by ASP Abdul Jabbar, blocked the road leading to Togh Bala area where the smugglers gang was supposed to dump arms and narcotics. The consignment was being brought from Darra Adam Khel and was destined for down country areas.

The gang upon seeing the police, opened indiscriminate fire which was retaliated forcing smugglers to take a shelter Togh Bala village. The police later arrested three smugglers, while rest of them managed to escape taking advantage of darkness.

The arrested persons were identified as Aseel Badshah, Wali Badshah and Habib Shah. The arms seized included two Kalashnikovs, two repeaters, 50 pen pistols, 15 0.30 bore pistols, one 9mm pistols, over 800 cartridges and 7kg of fine quality heroin.
