OKARA, March 7: Hundreds of city residents blocked the GT Road in front of city’s general bus-stand to protest against the failure of tehsil municipal administration (TMA) to provide civic facilities.

Residents of Rehman Colony, Allah Dad Colony, Azeem Super Market and Ghafoor Colony later called on Tehsil Municipal Officer Syed Israr Hussain Zaidi and demanded that city’s chocked sewers be opened and heaps of garbage removed from their localities. They expressed fear that some epidemic might break out in these localities, which were inhabited by 20,000 people.

DR ISRAR IN CITY: Tanzeem-i-Islami chief Dr Israr Ahmad said that time had come for the implementation of Islamic system in the country.

He was delivering the Friday sermon at Jamia Mosque, Chowk Jammia Mohammadia, on the invitation of former MNA and Jamiat-i-Ahle Hadith Amir Maulana Moeenuddin Lakhvi. — Correspondent
