Power supply to govt depts disconnected

PESHAWAR, March 7: Wapda has started disconnecting power supply to public sector departments for failing to clear outstanding dues before the deadline lapsed on Feb 27 last, according to sources.

Wapda had a claim of Rs800 million against different departments of the provincial government, including public health, engineering, education, law, health and the Peshawar city district government.

Initially, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) had suspended power supply to two public parks i.e Aasia Park and Chaachaa Younus Park, tubewells and street lights in different parts of the city due to non-payment of dues till March 1.
