Army truck runs over motorcyclist

PESHAWAR, March 7: A speeding army truck ran over a motorcyclist in sessions court in the jurisdiction of East Cantt police station on Thursday noon.

One Mohammad Sadiq was on his way home on his motorbike when the truck (No 852845) hit him from behind, killing him on the spot.

The truck driver, Hawaldar Lal Shah (commander Chirat), was trying to escape from the scene after the accident, but was held by the on-duty policemen.

ROBBED: Three chadar-clad armed robbers entered a jeweller’s shop in busy Gora Bazaar in broad daylight on Thursday and after making the owner of Zargar House, Saadullah Jan, and his son Rizwan hostage on gunpoint, decamped with 5.5 tolas of gold ornaments. The police have registered a case.

SEIZED: The police on Thursday seized foreign items worth millions of rupees at Haji Camp bus stand and arrested two persons.

A police party of Gulbahar police station, on a tip-off, raided the bus stand and recovered millions of rupees foreign items from different drivers of Lahore-bound passenger buses.

The police arrested Raaz Mohammad and Tanveer Khan.
