WASHINGTON, March 7: President Bush has again praised Pakistan for catching a suspected Al Qaeda leader Khalid Shaikh Mohammed.
In his news conference on Thursday night, Mr Bush said the last week had been an important one for war against terror and “thanks to the hard work of American and Pakistani officials, we captured the mastermind of the Sept 11 attacks against our nation.”
Mr Bush said “Khalid Shaikh Mohammed conceived and planned the hijackings and directed the actions of the hijackers. We believe his capture will further disrupt the terror network and their planning for additional attacks.” he added.
MUSHARRAF: President Musharraf said on Friday the capture of Al Qaeda terror mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed proved Pakistan’s commitment to fighting terrorism, AFP adds.
“It is a proof, confirmation of what we have been doing,” Gen Musharraf told CNN in an interview. “I think we apprehended more than 480 people. This is further confirmation Pakistan is acting against terrorism.”
