KARACHI: Fire station in Malir inaugurated

KARACHI, March 6: Nazim Karachi Naimatullah Khan has said he is planning for the future of the city till the year 2025 and all future governments will be bound to follow these plans.

Speaking at the inauguration of a fire station in Malir on Wednesday night, he said all the departments of the city government were active and working properly in coordination with one another.

There are now 21 fire stations in the city.

The Nazim praised the performance of the fire department of the city government. He said according to international standards a city like Karachi needed about 150 fire stations, but the department was doing a good job with only 21 fire stations.

This fire station had been under the control of the Rangers and it has been vacated by the efforts of City Nazim Naimatullah Khan.

The Nazim claimed the kind of development work done in Karachi during the past 16 months was unmatched in the history of the city.

An important reason for the speedy work on development projects was that there had been no obstacle in the way of the completion of these projects.

Mr Khan said it was due to his efforts that the president provided funds for three mega projects of Karachi: the Lyari Expressway, Karachi Northern bypass and K-III projects, the last one was meant to bring 100mgd water from the River Indus.

Work on these projects was in progress, he said, adding that he would complete master-plans for Karachi up to 2025 and the future city governments would be bound to follow the master-plans.

He said free education up to class Xth was being provided in city government schools, and deserving and position holders of class V111, 1X and X would be given a stipend of Rs100 to support their education.—PPI
