Terror, trade to top Karzai’s agenda

NEW DELHI, March 5: Cross-border terrorism and trade ties will dominate talks between Indian leaders and Afghan President Hamid Karzai who arrived here on Wednesday to begin a four-day visit to India.

The Hindustan Times however reported on Wednesday, that Mr Karzai will formally begin his visit from Thursday with a reception at the forecourt of Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s residence.

As Mr Karzai arrived in New Delhi, 57 more buses were gifted to Afghanistan by Indian truck-makers, which also have an eye on its markets.

Reconstruction is high on the agenda during the Indian-educated Mr Karzai’s trip here. He is due to hold talks with Indian leaders including Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and President Abdul Kalam.—dpa/AFP
