LAHORE, March 5: The Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards have lifted the ban on the entry of prominent race-horse owner Syed Tasweer Hussain Shah.
Shah, who owns a string of pedigree horses was warned off from LRC premises and entries of his horses in races stopped for one year for his uncalled for “remarks against the management” in the paddock on Feb 16. Shah is said to have tendered an unconditional apology to the stewards.
Syed Tasweer Hussain’s bay colt The Conqueror is favourite for the postponed Pakistan Derby.
Jockey Shahid Rehman is likely to ride The Conqueror. Shahid was suspended for one month from riding on Feb 8 and thus deprived of his ride in the Derby.
To Shahid’s good luck the Derby which was to be held on March 2 was postponed to March 16 following rains. Shahid’s suspension period ends on March 7 providing him a golden opportunity once again. Shahid coming six times sixth, has so far won the Derby twice.—A.G.
