KARACHI: Kharadar without water

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, March 5: Residents of Kharadar area have been facing water shortage for the last couple of months.

People residing in a number of multi-storied buildings, situated on Kharadar’s Jaffar Fadoo Road, Taboot Lane, Kharadar, complained that they were being supplied water for only 10 to 20 minutes a day.

“All those buildings, connected with the Jaffar Fadoo Road pumping station, are not only receiving scant supply, but with a low pressure,” they complained, alleging that some consumers have also tampered with the pipeline to get more water and as such tail-enders either get little or no water.

They urged the concerned town administration, MNA and MPAs to help resolve the lingering water issue and also take action against the valveman responsible for creating an artificial water shortage in their locality.

Meanwhile, the localities which went dry on Wednesday under water-holiday system included Old City Area, Garden East, Garden West, Soldier Bazaar, Saddar, Shikarpur Colony, Cosmopolitan Society and parts of Lyari.

CLOSURE: The localities where the water supply would remain suspended on Thursday include Landhi, Korangi, Defence Housing Authority, National Refinery, Karachi Port Trust, Pakistan Railways, PAF (Korangi) Base and its adjoining areas.
