Rally seeks legislation on violence against women

By A Reporter

ISLAMABAD, March 4: The participants of a rally, organized by the Progressive Women Association (PWA) outside the Parliament House, called for legislation on domestic violence against women.

The rally was held under the title ‘The sky is the limit’. About 100 people, including lawyers, students, representatives of defferent NGOs and human rights activists, participated in the rally.

Speaking on the occasion, Ayla Malik, the Millat Party MNA, said parliament would make legislation on protecting the women’s rights and ending domestic violence.

She said women should be respected and given their due status as enjoined by Islam.

She said the country’s progress depended on women participation in all vital fields.
