KARACHI: Six DHA grid stations energized

KARACHI, March 4: The energizing and commissioning of six grid stations marked the completion of the electrification project of the Defence Housing Authority Sector ‘A’ Phase VIII.

The simple and impressive ‘Switching On’ Ceremony was held here on Tuesday near Marina Club with Administrator DHA Brig Asif Ghazali as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, the administrator termed the completion of the project in record time as a milestone achievement. He expressed the hope that it would go a long way in providing electricity to the residents of the area.

He said that availability of electricity would give an impetus to the development and construction activities in the DHA Phase VIII.

He said the DHA had undertaken the project on self-finance basis and completed it at a very less cost, while maintaining the highest technical standards and a high quality of work, for which the engineering department of the Defence Authority deserved full commendation.

The administrator spoke at length about the various development works and projects planned and launched by the DHA, such as the power and desalination plant, sewerage plants, sports infrastructure, the DHA University proposal, the beach development project, the new water pipeline and the land work housing scheme projects.

Director Engineering Col Albert Nasim informed that the next phase of 21 sub-stations, in addition to the six substations already energized, had been approved by the KESC.

He said that with the KESC’s help and co-operation the DHA was doing its utmost to complete the substations and the underground distribution infrastructure. He added that all the expansion work was being monitored and checked by the KESC.—APP
