RAWALPINDI, March 3: The additional district and sessions judge, Syed Pervez Ali, on Monday awarded two-and-a-half years of rigorous imprisonment to a drug-peddler.

He was also imposed a fine of Rs10,000. In case of non- payment of fine, the convict will have to undergo another two months of jail term. The convict had been booked by Kahuta police station for possessing two kilograms of charas.

Mohammad Khan had confessed to his crime before the court, therefore, the judge gave him the benefit of Section 382 B, under which the period which he spent in jail during trial would be included in the rigorous imprisonment.

Meanwhile, the judge of anti-terrorist court no 2, Safdar Hussain Malik, adjourned the hearing of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) Kashmir rally case till March 15.

About 15 PML-N activists, including Syed Zafar Ali Shah and Siddiqul Farooq, had been nominated in an FIR by Banni police for allegedly disturbing public order by taking out a Kashmir rally in Raja Bazaar.

The PML-N activists, after securing bails, had challenged the jurisdiction of the same court in the high court, while the latter has yet to announce its decision regarding the status of the case.

The judge of anti-terrorist court no 1, Manzoor Ahmad Mirza, also adjourned the hearing of a case, in which two men had opened fire on their opponents inside a court, till March 13.

The accused, Imdad Hussain and Shafqat, had allegedly shot dead Mukhtar Ahmad and severely injured Bakhtawar, inside the court of district and sessions judge, Malik Akram Awan. Both the parties were present in the court during the hearing of the murder case of the accused Imdad Hussain.
