Wattoo’s son appears before court

RAWALPINDI, March 3: An accountability court here on Monday adjourned the hearing of the aircraft corruption reference against the former Punjab chief minister Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo till March 21.

The court had earlier issued non-bailable warrants of the accused on last date of hearing on the objections of the prosecution. The special public prosecutor had submitted that the accused was absenting himself on medical grounds whereas he was contesting the Senate elections from Punjab.

The court had also issued notices to the guarantors of the accused for Monday.

Moazam Wattoo, son of Manzoor Wattoo and a guarantor, appeared in the court on Monday and stated that the accused was ill and he would be available on the next date of hearing.

The prosecutors did not press for the non-bailable warrants and the court fixed March 21 as next date of hearing.

The judge, Accountability Court No 1, Syed Mumtaz Hussain Shah, was scheduled to record the statement of the deputy inspector general of police, Javed Noor, who is investigation officer in the said case on Monday.—APP
