Tolerance a must for unity, says Laleka
ISLAMABAD, March 3: Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Abdus Sattar Laleka has said there is a need to inculcate the spirit of patience and tolerance in the country to forge unity in the Muslim world.
The minister was speaking at the concluding session of the two-day Husainia Conference convened by the central Imam Hussain Council here on Monday.
Mr Laleka said discussion on the virtues of Hazrat Imam Hussain could continue for months and yet there would be no end to the subject. He said Hazrat Imam Hussain showed exemplary patience and tolerance which should be adopted by the people in everyday life.
He said the conference played a major role in promoting harmony among different groups of the country’s populace, especially during Muharram.
Earlier, MMA leader Qazi Husain Ahmad said the parliament and the Constitution were supreme and should be kept above controversy.
He called for restoration of 1973 Constitution. “It was the 1973 Constitution that was suspended, and hence should be restored,” he said.
The Husainia conference concluded after adopting a number of resolutions. It called for complete harmony among different segments of the society and urged them to ensure peace during Muharram.
Prayers were offered for the success of the freedom struggle in the Indian-held Kashmir as well as for the cause of Palestinian people.—Jonaid Iqbal
