KARACHI: Child run over by tanker

KARACHI, March 3: A four-year-old boy died in a road accident in Orangi Town on Monday.

The police said Mohammed Hanif was run over by a speeding water tanker in Mominabad. He died on the spot. The tanker driver escaped.

The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.

DIES: A teenage boy died when some goods fell on him while he was unloading goods from a truck at a mill in Landhi on Monday.

The police said Niaz Ahmed, aged 15, a worker in a textile mill, was unloading goods from a truck when a load of goods fell on him. He died instantly. The body was sent to the JPMC for post-mortem.

ARRESTED: The investigation branch of the police claimed to have arrested three bandits who committed a robbery at the house of veteran singer Mehdi Hasan on Feb 5.

The police said three men, Waseem Ishrat alias Commando, Asghar Husain and Javed Shafi, affiliated with the MQM (Haqiqi), had been arrested and substantial recovery of the looted goods had been made.

The three accused are wanted in several other cases of murder and dacoity also by the police.

The police arrested two workers of the MQM (H) at a hideout in Landhi late Sunday night. The police said in a raid on a hideout near Heera Pakwan House in Landhi the police arrested two suspects belonging to the MQM (H) and recovered three Kalashnikovs, one 7mm rifle and hundreds of rounds from their possession.
