KARACHI, March 1: Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammad Mahar has appealed to the masses to extend a helping hand to the government to overcome law and order problem.

“The heinous act of terrorism on Friday which claimed the lives of two policemen posted at the US consulate in Karachi appears to be an attempt by the inimical forces who are bent upon causing a permanent instability in Karachi,” he said while talking to newsmen on Saturday during his visit to JPMC where he went to inquire about the health of the injured policemen.

In response to a question about the status of investigations carried out by the police to ascertain the circumstances which led to the incident, he said so far nothing tangible had transpired, however, with the passage of time, it would come to fore.

IGP Syed Kamal Shah, responding to queries by newsmen, said that the current pace of investigations relating to the killing of two policemen at the US consulate was advancing in a satisfactory manner and soon real motives of this reprehensible act would transpire.

Replying to another question, he said that the arrested person who was allegedly involved in firing incident at police constables on Saturday was a resident of Multan, and his father is working at a hotel in Pasni. Further investigations were underway.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included CCPO Asad Ashraf Malik, JPMC director Dr. Shakoor Qazi, and deputy director of JPMC Dr. Seemin Jamali.—PPI
