KARACHI: Moot on head, neck cancer

KARACHI, March 1: The Society of Head and Neck Cancer will organize a national conference at the Aga Khan University Hospital on March 7, 8 and 9, says a press release.

It adds that cancer of the head and neck, especially oral cavity, is the second most common cancer after that of lung in males in Pakistan. The habit of chewing paan and tobacco is directly responsible for the high incidence of the disease in this part of the world.

“Experts in the field from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, and from the US will be participating in the conference. Via teleconferencing, speakers from Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, New York, University of Cincinnati and Madrid, Spain, will present papers and interact with the audience,” it says.

Practical demonstration of surgical techniques in head and neck surgeries by specialists from the US and India and will be conducted on March 7.
