Karachi Whites upset Customs
KARACHI, Feb 28: Karachi Whites scored a shock 24-run victory over Pakistan Customs in a Pool ‘B’ fixture of the NBP One-day Patron’s Cup at National Stadium here on Friday.
Opener Maisam Hasnain hit a match-winning 113 off 155 balls with 11 fours and a solitary six as Karachi Whites reached 284 for nine in 50 overs after being asked to bat first.
Customs, in reply, bowled out for 260 in 48.3 overs. Former Test opening batsman Shadab Kabir top-scored with 48.
Pacer Mohammad Hasnain took the bowling honours with figures of four for 48 in 9.3 overs while off-spinner Tahir Khan chipped in with three for 36 in 10 overs.
Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik and Faisal Iqbal guided PIA to a comfortable nine-wicket win against Bahawalpur at UBL Sports Complex.
Shoaib (77 off 82 balls, 11 fours) and Faisal (80 not out off 93 balls, six fours and one six) shared a first wicket partnership of 138 to help PIA easily overhaul Bahawalpur’s 172 for nine, in just 34.4 overs.
Left-arm slow bowler Nadeem Khan was pick of PIA’s bowlers with three for 38 in 10 overs.
Dadu surprised Lahore Blues by 10 runs at NBP Sports Complex. The highlights of this match being fine centuries by Shahid Qambrani, who hit an unbeaten 112 off 102 balls with 10 fours and one six and Sohail Idrees’s 101 at run-a-ball with four fours and three sixes for the losers.

Habib Bank defeated Multan by eight wickets at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Wapda earned a 94-run victory against Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) at the Gymkhana Ground in Okara and Sargodha inflicted 41-run defeat on Gujranwala at Sports Stadium in Sargodha.
