KARACHI: Muttahida leaders off to London

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 28: Some top leaders of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement left here for London to consult the party leader Altaf Hussain on the evolving political situation in the country, especially since the Senate elections.

Those who left the city included deputy conveners of the coordination committee Dr Farooq Sattar, Nasreen Jaleel and Senator-elect Babar Ghouri, and Adil Siddiqui.

There were unconfirmed reports that Mr Ghori was being tipped for a ministerial slot in the centre. Sources said the visit was also aimed at firming up the party strategy towards the local government system and simmering difference within the ruling alliance in Sindh.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad had, however, played down the differences report and said that it was a routine visit for consultation with the party chief.
