ISLAMABAD, Feb 27: The Deputy Secretary-General of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), Mr Liaquat Baloch, said on Thursday that the MMA would not change its stand on the Legal Framework Order (LFO).

Talking to reporters after Senate elections at the parliament building, he said the MMA, an alliance of six religious parties, did not accept the LFO and it would continue its opposition to the LFO.

He said the constitution of the country had been drafted for the federation and it should not affect the provincial autonomy.

Responding to a question about coalition between the MMA and the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Q in the formation of the Balochistan government, he said the alliance was made to run democratic system in the country.

“The Balochistan Assembly might have been dissolved, if the MMA did not join hands with the PML-Q in the province,” he said.

“Sometimes we compromise on various issues to keep things in order and alliance of the MMA with the PML-Q in Balochistan is an example of this logic,” he said.

Talking about success of Prof Ghafoor, a front line leader of the MMA who won Senate election from Islamabad, he said the election of the MMA leader would enhance the prestige of the House.

“Prof Ghafoor is a seasoned politicians and he will play a vital role for restoration of the constitution of the country,” he hoped.

In reply to a question about results of Fata election to Senate, he termed them unexpected for the MMA.
