SANGHAR, Feb 27: The Sanghar District Council has demanded of the Sindh government to fix wheat rate at Rs400 per 40kgs.

It also demanded abolition of Sida and redesigning of watercourse modules made in 1933.

Resolutions to these effects were unanimously passed at the session of the district council here on Wednesday.

Speaking at the session, Rana Shoukat said that the food department had not begun supplying gunny bags to farmers for purchasing wheat.

He demanded to ensure timely supply of gunny bag to wheat growers.

The district Naib Nazim, Dr Mehmood Ahmed Rajput, alleged that 1,550 bags of wheat were misappropriated, which were to be distributed among the poor people as the Ramazan package.

The Nazim, Shahdadpur union council, Faisal Wassan, alleged that the Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority (Sida) was against the interests of growers.
