GC, Faisalabad in lead

LAHORE, Feb 26: Government College, Faisalabad with 82 points were leading on the opening day of the 107th Punjab University Inter- collegiate athletics championship at the university’s Old Campus grounds on Wednesday.

Islamia College, Civil Lines Lahore (ICCL) with 64 points and Punjab Commerce College Lahore (PCCL) 60 points are in second and third position respectively.

The meet is being participated by over 300 athletes belonging to 30 colleges affiliated with the university.

Finals in 14 events were decided on the first day of the championship while the remaining finals will be held on Thursday.

Results:

800m: Mohsin Ashraf (ICCL) 2.1.98 secs, Mazhar Hussain (PCCL), Naveed Mazhar (GC Faisalabad).

400m hurdles: Shahzad Ramzan (ICCL) 58.81 sec, Umar Iqbal (GC Faisalabad), Iftikhar-ul-Haq (GCC Faisalabad).

High jump: Sakhawat (Punjab Law College) 1.78m; Abdul Malik (GPECL), Mohammad Arshad (ICCL).

3000m steeplechase: Ashiq Hussain (ICCL) 10 min 5.79 secs, Fahmeed (GC Bhakkar), Muhammad Sami (PCCL).

Hammer throw: Israr Ahmad (PCCL) 45.41 m, Ghazanfar Cheema (GC Faisalabad), Muzamil Khan (GCPEL).

Pole vault: Javed Iqbal (GC Faisalabad) 2.93m, Akhlaq Ahmad (GC Faisalabad), Saifullah (PCCL).

4x400m relay race: ICCL, 3.38.83 secs, GC Faisalabad, PCCL.

Javelin throw: Ghulam Abbas (GC Faisalabad) 55.44m, Mohammad Sakhwat (Punjab Law College), Shahzad Butt (PCCL).

1500m: Mohsin Ashraf (ICCL) 4.20.16 secs, Mazhar Hussain (PCCL), Naveed Mazhar (GC Faisalabad).

Hop-Step and Jump: Qaisar Abbas (GC Faisalabad) 13.28m, Jamil Ahmad (GCPEL), Adnan Siddiq (PCCL).

Discus throw: Muzamil Khan (GCPEL) 39.19m, Imran (GC Faisalabad), Asim Mushtaq (GC Faisalabad).

110m hurdles race: Abdul Ghaffar (PLCL) 16.35 sec, Umar Iqbal (Punjab Law College), Umar Iqbal (GC Faisalabad), Atiq-ur-Rehman (GCPEL).

4x100m relay: PCCL, 45.70 sec, GCPEL, PUTD. 10,000 m race: Ismail Bhatti (GC Bhakkar) 34 m 31.87 sec, Safdar Ali (GCF), Ashiq Hussain (ICCL).
