Gulnaz breaks national record

ISLAMABAD, Feb 26: Gulnaz Ara broke the national 800m record on Wednesday while Noshee Parveen bettered the 100m hurdles mark in the open trials for selecting Pakistan athletics team for the upcoming SAF Games.

With a time of 2:10.66 secs, Gulnaz of Wapda, improved upon the record of 2:11.2 secs held by Army’s Bushra Parveen.

Noshee, also from Wapda clocked 14.7 secs to shatter the previous mark of 14.9 secs held jointly by Farah Naz and Shabana Khattak.

400m hurdles (men): Allah Ditta (Army) 50.88, Iftikhar (Railways) 52.43, Ilyas Raza (Army) 54.51.

High jump (women): Naveeda Malik (POF Wah) 1.54, Bazgha Sharmeen (Wapda) 1.51, Rozina Shafqat (Wapda) 1.48.

Shot put (women): Zeenat Parveen (Wapda) 13.29, Fouzia Khatoon (Wapda) 10.63, Nazia Butt (Wapda) 9.72.

110m hurdles (women): Noshee Parveen (Wapda) 14.70 (NR), Shabana Khattak (NWFP) 15.15

800m (women): Gulnaz Ara (Wapda) 2:10.66 (NR), Sumaira Zahoor (POF Wah) 2:12.43, Sajida Ramzan (Army) 2:14.83.
