SHEIKHUPURA, Feb 26: Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool has said promotion of education was the only way to put the country on road to progress.
The governor was speaking at the annual prize distribution and founders’ day function of Chand Bagh School in Kot Jilani on Wednesday. School president Masood Hasan, board of governors chairman Iftikhar Ali Bukhari, principal Salim Arshad Kashmiri, DCO, SSP and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
Governor Maqbool regretted that the country could not progress unless education standard was raised. Though the government had paid special attention to boost the standard of education, much was still required to be done, he added.
He said progress made in the education sector during the present regime was greater than that of past governments.
He said it was the need of the hour that funds should be distributed to schools in rural and urban areas on merit so that the children could have equal opportunities to get quality education.
He was all praise for the school and its staff for imparting quality education to the students. He stressed the need for setting up a school for girls.
Earlier, the school president presented the progress report of the school.
