500 teachers without salaries

By Our Correspondent

KASUR, Feb 26: As many as 500 teachers, who were appointed on a five-year contract in September last year, have not been paid salaries for the past five months.

The district education department appointed 500 male and female teachers in various institutes and asked them to submit their documents so that their salaries could be released in time.

The teachers have reportedly submitted their documents, but are yet to be paid salaries.

Worried about their fate, a teachers’ delegation on Wednesday met District Nazim Rana Imtiaz Ahmad Khan and the district coordination officer and put forward their demands.

The government officials assured the teachers that their salaries would be paid soon.

Meanwhile, the DCO has directed the EDO (education) and district accounts officer to complete the formalities and solve the teachers’ problems without delay.

KILLED: A minor boy was killed when a rashly-driven tractor-trolley hit him in Sandhianwala village on Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses said Muhammad Sufian, 3, was playing on road near his house when a tractor-trolley hit him, killing the boy instantly.

Driver Abdul Ghafoor fled. Saddar police are investigating.

RAPED: A girl was raped by six armed men in Khankey Mor village and took her signature on a blank paper, police said on Wednesday.

The police said Muhammad Ayub and his accomplices entered Inayat’s house in his absence and raped his daughter at gunpoint. They took her signature on a blank paper and escaped.

Phoolnagar police have registered a case.
