PAF plane Jettisons fuel tank

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 25: A fuel tank was jettisoned by a Pakistan Air Force plane after it developed a fault while flying over the Orangi township on Tuesday night.

The fuel tank fell near the Orangi Extension Police Station. No loss of life or property was reported, police said.

PAF’s spokesperson Squadron Leader Khusro told Dawn that the Mirage aircraft, which had taken off from the PAF Base Masroor, was on a routine training flight when it developed a technical fault and had to jettison the empty fuel tank.

He said that the empty fuel tank fell some 10 nautical miles from the Masroor Base, where the aircraft landed safely later. He said that both the pilot and the aircraft were safe.

He said that a recovery team had been sent to collect the tank and bring it back to the air base. For the time being police were guarding the tank.
