KARACHI, Feb 25: Pakistan’s Lipton finished runners-up behind a team from United Kingdom in an International Bridge event in Sharjah.

According to information made available here Tuesday by the Pakistan Bridge Federation, while Hectett’s team from UK won the championship and the rich purse of US Dollars 20,000, Pakistan’s Lipton finished runner-up after putting up a superb performance in the qualifying rounds and later in the finals.

Lipton comprised of M.A. Ansari, Sattar Cochinwala, Masood Mazhar, Shauq Hussain and the established pair Abdul Khaliq-Nasir Reza Khan.

Having won all the matches of the final round robin, they faced the Egyptian-Pak team and gave them the first shock, but by a very little margin.

In the final round the team from the United Kingdom comprising of international Heckette, proved too good for Lipton and managed a plus score card to win the championship.—APP
