FAISALABAD, Feb 25: Citizens-Police Liaison Committee chief Khurram Iftikhar said on Tuesday the body had started transforming police stations in the first phase of the programme.

Giving a multimedia presentation to highlight the committee’s achievements, he said initially four model police stations at People’s Colony, Gulberg, Sargodha Road and Khurianwala would be developed into model police stations. The police stations would be furnished again, he said, adding they would also be purged of filthy environment. He said Rescue 15 units had also been established at Khurianwala.

He said various help counters had been set up in the police stations to redress complaints of people. Legal experts had been hired to guide people at these counters, he added.

The CPLC chief said out of 269 applications received so far, the police stations had disposed of 267.

He said guidance and consulting services centre had been set up at the CPLC headquarters to benefit citizens.

According to Mr Iftikhar, five wireless sets each had been provided to the Gulberg and Khurianwala police stations. He added that the Rescue 15 at Khurianwala had also been provided a pick up for patrolling.

The CPLC head informed DIG Altaf Qamar that computerization of criminals’ records, FIR, criminal sketching system, thumb scanning and preparation of car-snatching database had been started.

In the second phase, he said online jail view, car tracking, top dome camera and wireless connectivity programmes would be carried out.
