PESHAWAR, Feb 25: The NWFP government has devised a plan to establish four museums in as many cities in next six months to preserve cultural heritage, officials said on Monday.

Speaking at a training workshop on “documentation of cultural heritage of the walled city of Peshawar” on Monday, archeology and museums director Dr Ihsan Ali said the government had chalked out a plan for the preservation of cultural heritage and urban architecture in the province.

Under the plan, he said, the directorate of archeology and museums would establish museums in Peshawar, Hund (Swabi), Charsadda and Kohat, said a press release.

The week-long workshop has been jointly organized by Unesco, directorate of archeology and museums and the Heritage Foundation Karachi.

Unesco director Ingeborg Breines said that six monuments of Pakistan were already on the World Heritage List and Peshawar would also be included in the list shortly.

Photographs, drawings, plans and other documents prepared by the participants of the workshop will be displayed at Gor Kathree, Peshawar.
