Lawyers protest against America

GUJRANWALA, Feb 24: The District Bar Association took out a procession on Monday to protest against impending US war on Iraq.

Lawyers boycotted court proceedings and held a meeting at the bar room under the chairmanship of bar president Ilyas Rehan.

The participants condemned US aggressive policy and demanded the world community and the Security Council not to allow the US and its allies to attack Iraq.

Later, they took out a procession carrying banners and placards. The procession started from the district courts and terminated at Gondlanwala Chowk.

murdered: A man allegedly killed his sister and her lover in Alipur Chattha on Monday.

The woman was married, but reportedly she developed relations with Qaiser of Kalasaki, police said.

Nazir attacked his sister and her lover when he saw them in a room, killing them on the spot.

ARRESTED: Some 82 people of two rival groups were arrested by Kamoki police who went to the police station in connection with the investigation of a murder case on Monday.

The Kamoki city SHO was investigating the murder of Sultan Dogar. He summoned complainant Imran and accused party members Altaf and Mahmood, etc. The complainant and the accused group members started quarrelling with each other in the police station. On it, the SHO arrested all them and registered a case against them.

BODY FOUND: The decomposed body of the son of a prayer leader was recovered from a pond in Sadhoki on Monday.

Ataullah, the son of Maulavi Abdul Rashid, had been missing for the last one and a half month.

COP HELD: A police constable was arrested on charges of helping a proclaimed offender.

Police claimed PO Asif was wanted in a dozen cases of dacoity and robbery. Constable Pervaiz informed him about a police raid and he escaped from his hideout. However, police arrested him.

He told police during interrogation that Pervaiz was his informer. Baghbanpura police arrested him.
